Richard Harvey

Richard Harvey has been a ubiquitous presence on the London music scene since graduating from the Royal College of Music in 1972. His early forays into the professional world involved playing recorder and early woodwinds with his own group Gryphon and ancient music pioneers “Musica Reservata”. His later work with composer Maurice Jarre led him into film composing in the late 1970s and it has been his principal activity ever since.

With Alex Silverman and Ed Jaspers, he wrote Hamlet! The Musical, a big hit at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe, winning the Theatregoers’ Choice award for Best Musical.

His second album ‘The Very Thought of You’ celebrates the songs of Great Britain, including a beautiful version of the ballad ‘A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square’, a swing version of ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ by the Beatles and original material including Richard’s ‘Racing Home to You’ and the haunting love song ‘Over Like the Roses’ by Martin Newell.
