The Ben Matthews Trio

With Ben Matthews, Paul Reeves and Jo Harrop

Ben Matthews, Jo Harrop, and Paul Reeves live at Grosvenor House Hotel, London

The Ben Mathews Trio performs jazz masterpieces in a classic style that is graceful and highly entertaining, doing more than simply reverting to standard interpretations. The trio caters for different moods, whether it is the liveliest party or a more intimate occasion. The trio's international work includes the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, and prestige venues in Brazil, the Maldives and Singapore. The trio's extensive corporate portfolio has taken them to venues such as the Hilton Park Lane, Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir, and Grosvenor House Hotel (see footage below).

The trio is comprised of Ben Mathews on Vocals and Drums, Paul Reeves on Piano and Jo Harrop on Vocals. Guest artistes include vocalist Anna-Lena Kleinert, trombonist Gareth Jones, saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos, and on violin the legendary Graham Preskett.

Ben Matthews was born into the music business; his parents have been professional musicians on the traditional gig circuit for over forty years and are still going strong! His list of credits (over and above the many tours, weddings, functions and parties) includes playing many times for Prince Albert of Monaco.

Paul Reeves is a regular on the London jazz scene and is currently playing piano in the West End production of Blood Brothers at the Phoenix Theatre on Charing Cross Road (he has also played in the Sunset Boulevard and Miss Saigon orchestras). He writes music for film and television and has been know to throw in the odd backing vocal during performances, causing a lively debate within the band.

Jo Harrop is a young jazz singer with a captivating, rich, chocolate voice. Passionate about singing, Jo's favourite place is on stage, performing jazz standards with flair and sophistication. Jo has appeared at Londons' Jazz Café, supporting the American band Blind Boys of Alabama. Her live recording of the gig was featured on Courtney Pines' Radio2, Jazz Crusade in June 2007.
